Alu Bonda or Alu Chop (In Odisha) is a famous snacks item in India. its a slightly different variant of Mumbai Famous Batata Bada. Alu Bonda/Chop is made with deep fried gram flour covered on top of spiced mashed potatoes. It is a very simple & quick to make snacks item. It is served with Mint, coriander chutney or tomato ketchup. So dear friends lets start.

Ingredients
  • 3 Boiled Potato
  • 2 tbsp Onion
  • 1 tbsp Tomato
  • 1/2 tsp Green chilli
  • 2 tsp Peanut
  • 1/2 tsp Grated carrot
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 4-5 cashews
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds/ cumin Seeds
  • 4-5 tbsp Chickpea flour (Besan)
  • 1/2 tsp Mango powder
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger /Garlic/Red chilli paste
  • 1/4 tsp Chat masala
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1- 2 pinch Carom seeds
  • Water as required
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions
  1. Add oil in a pan, add mustard & cumin seeds. When the seeds will start crackling add chopped onion & green chillies.
  2. When the Onion turns to golden brown, add ginger/garlic/ red chilli paste & saute for a minute. Then add chopped tomatoes, roasted peanut, cashews nuts. Fry it well.
  3. Add turmeric, red chilli, garam masala powder & salt, mix it well. Now add mashed boiled potatoes. Fry it for 2 minutes. And add grated coconut & coriander leaves. ( Mixture is Ready )
  4. In a bowl add besan, red chilli, turmeric powder, salt, mango Powder, chat masala, carom seeds & a little bit of ginger/garlic/red chiili paste. Add water and mix it well. ( Batter is Ready)
  5. Heat oil for deep frying the Aalu Bonda's or chop. Make the lemon size of potato balls. Dip into the batter & slowly one by one drop into the oil. ( Be Careful )
  6. Fry the Bonda's in medium flame till the Bonda's becomes slightly golden brown. Remove from oil & place it in a tissue. ( to absorb excess oil )
  7. Serve hot with chutney.
