The dish has its roots in Punjabi cuisine and was developed by the Moti Mahal restaurant in Delhi. You can combine butter chicken with tawa roti,naan,rice & some salads which ever you want.   • 250 gm Chicken pieces (medium size)
  • 1/2 cup Onion (roughly chopped)
  • 1 inch Ginger (roughly chopped)
  • 1-2 garlic
  • 2 Red chilli
  • 7-8 Cashew
  • 1/2 cup Tomato puree
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp Kasuri methi
  • 1 tbsp Coriander leaves (roughly chopped)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Fresh cream
  • 3 tsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Instructions
  1. Wash the chicken pieces in running water. In a bowl add chicken pieces, turmeric powder,red chili powder, salt, if you want then add 1/4 tsp of ginger, garlic paste, mix it well.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add the chicken pieces, stir it well when water is absorbed & chicken becomes dry then remove the chicken pieces & keep aside.
  3. In the same pan add the ginger, garlic, red chilli, stir it for 2-3 minutes, than add the roughly chopped onion & cashew. When the onion becomes transparent then switch off the flame & blend it a smooth paste, when its becomes cool.
  4. In the same pan add butter & blended onion, cashew paste, fry it well. Then add tomato puree, kasuri methi, half of coriander powder, salt,turmeric powder,coriander powder,mix it well.
  5. Add water & boil, open the lead, add chicken pieces, cook it for 15 minutes, when chicken becomes soft than add the cream & garam masala, cook it for another 2 minutes.
  6. After 2 minutes, switch off the flame, garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
