Momo is very easy to cook and is a low calories snack. it is usually served with red chilli chutney. The dish is believed to be of Tibetan origin & since then it has spread to other neighboring countries. Momos are a type of steamed bun with some form of filling. It is one of the most popular street foods in India. There are typically two types of Momos -- Steamed & Fried.. If you are non vegetarian, It can be filled with any minced meat of your choice, But if you are a vegetarian you can fill it with cabbage / onion / carrot Ok friends, Now let's start the recipe of chilli momos with schwan sauce

Ingredients
For Dough
  • 1 cup All puropse flour / Maida
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • Water as required
For Stuffing
  • 1 1/2 cup cabbage Finely Chopped
  • 4 tbsp Onion Finely Chopped
  • 3 " Piece Ginger
  • 2 tsp garlic Finely Chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp Oil
  • Salt to Taste
For Sauce
  • 3 Green chilli Cut into 2 piece in between
  • 5 crused garlic
  • 6 tsp schewan sauce
  • 1 tbsp Red Chilli Paste
  • 1/4 tsp Vinegar
  • 2-3 drops Soy Sauce
  • 6 tsp Ketchup
  • 1 shelled Onion
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • Scallions & Coriander Leaves Optional
  • - To fry + 2-3 Tbsp Oil

Instructions
For Dough
  1. Take all purpose flour (maida) salt and oil in a bowl and mix it.
  2. Add water in parts to form a firm dough
  3. cover the dough and keep aside for 20 minutes
For Vegetable Filling
  1. Peel and chop (finely) all the vegetables
  2. Heat oil in a wok, add the minced garlic and saute for a minute. Add onions stir and saute for 10-15 seconds .
  3. Add the finely chopped vegetables
  4. Add soy sauce, black pepper powder, pinch of suger & salt, mix well
  5. Turn off the heat and allow to come to room temprature.
For Momos
  1. Knee the dough again for a few minutes and pinch out small lemon size ball of the dough and dust with flour.
  2. Roll out each ball into a 3" or 4" diameter circle, it should not be too thick or too thin.
  3. Apply water with your finger tip
  4. Place 1 or 2 tsp of veg. stuffing in the center
  5. Lift one side of the edge and start pleating join all the pleats in the center
  6. Its ready to steam now
  7. Grease the steamer pan with oil, arrange the momos in the pan, keeping space between them.
  8. Steam for 5-7 mintues, till the outer cover become semi transparent, dont overcook.
  9. Then Fry the Momos till it becomes golden in color.
For the Sauce
  1. In a wok put the oil, add garlic, green chilies and onion
  2. Add little bit of salt
  3. Pour sauces in the pan and stir it well, add little bit of suger into it.

  4. Add the fried momos to the sauce and add Scallions & Coriander Leaves (optional) & it's ready to be served .. Should be served hot.
