Idli upma is a very simple & delicious dish. If you have made extra idli than don't throw it, rather you can easily covert it to idli upma for a change in your normal Idli. Its not at all suggested to make this with hot idlis. I have added vegetables to it but if you dont want then you can prepare it as your wish. Serve with hot sambar & coconut or peanut chutney. let's try...

  • 2 cup Idli crumbled
  • 1 medium Onion (chopped)
  • 1 tsp Green chilli (chopped)
  • 2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 6-7 Curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Bengal gram
  • 1/2 tsp Urad daal
  • 1 tbsp Peanut (roasted)
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger (grated)
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 pinch Asafotida(hing)
  • 1 tsp Coriander leaves (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Oil

Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, when the seeds crackle add urad daal, bengal gram, hing, red chilli, curry leaves, when the daal turns to golden colour add chopped onion, green chilli,grated ginger & fry it well.
  2. Add peanut,turmeric powder,salt, saute it well & than add the idli crumbled,mix it well.

  3. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves & serve with hot sambar.
